Helloooooo out there!
No, it is not a ghost. It is just me...checking in...2 years later *ahem*...to update my LJ a bit.

I was recently inspired to make a second 'North & South' video. After my P&P vids started to be taken down from YouTube, I got a bit disheartened with the whole vidding business and backed away. However, I had a funny idea for a N&S vid and started to obsess about it. Then I joined the Foolish Passion vidding community, and Elvira's tireless work there really inspired me to jump back into it. The fans who still love N&S, almost 5 years after the initial broadcast (such as those on the IMDB message board), prove that my obsession with this miniseries is shared by others.

Any time I get to thinking about songs for videos, I usually try to stick to the storyline and mood of the original movie. N&S is such a serious - and seriously romantic - movie that I would always try to find a song to match. Then, I had a funny thought one day. What is the complete opposite of a serious, romantic, moody song? Why, a-ha's "Take On Me", of course! LOL

Then an interesting thing happened. As I listened to the lyrics, they actually matched pretty well to the story! Too funny...and too good to pass up.

So here is my latest (and hopefully not my last) creation.

...and there was much rejoicing....from me!  I was finally able to find a song I was satisfied with....i.e. whose lyrics fit the story.  Alanis Morissette is one of my favorite artists, and I saw someone use this song for a Pride&Prejudice video.  Since the stories are similar, it was no wonder it fit well with North&South, too.

I just spent an inordinate amount of time adding my music videos to the links column. I had to word each link in such a way so that the format would not irk me every time I saw it! Since this is the first time I've posted these videos here, I thought I'd give an explanation for each one.  I'll start with the first one, Josh Groban's "My Confession" today. 

Some background first:  
I saw Pride & Prejudice in December 2005, on a night out with my brother, away from the husband and kids.  I had read the book and loved the '95 miniseries (still do!), but there was something that instantly drew me to this version.  It was the actors, the passion, the movement of the film.  It was also the music, the locations, the camera-work....everything!  I next found myself surfing online to all the Pride & Prejudice sites to get a "fix".  I discovered message boards and P&P communities, especially Longbourn Loungers.  Pretty soon I had some clips from IMDBs resident clip supplier, Zurrie.  I would watch these day after day, counting the days until I could buy the DVD. One day I stumbled upon Windows Media Maker, which came with my computer, and the rest is history.  These videos are my first foray into what I have since found out is called "vidding."  If you haven't seen them yet, I suggest downloading before continuing...
